Vision

If you’re like me, you know the struggle of needing your glasses to find your glasses. I’ve been bespectacled since elementary school, and I’ve mostly adjusted to the lenses perched on my nose, clarifying the wide, wonderful world before me. The problem arises when I can’t find my glasses. My vision is lacking.

In this summer season, many of us take time off to rest, relax, and recharge. Families pack up and venture to the beach. Kids frolic in a waterpark packed with people. Friends pack the ice chest and prepare a fire-roasted feast on the backyard grill. It is good to rest. Many folks also take time around midyear to examine how they are progressing towards yearly goals. I know as a teacher, the summer brings some respite, but also a chance to begin preparing for the upcoming year. What lessons could I have changed for the better? What strategies will I put in place to overcome obstacles? How have I grown and changed as an educator? I know, I hate talking school during the summer, but I must look ahead.

One of my favorite Scriptures is Habakkuk 2:2 where the Lord instructs, “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.” I have always marveled at the importance of vision; not just sharpening an image before me, but trusting in God when I cannot see. Through God’s grace, he has led me to a campus ministry that sharpened my faith while in college. He favored me at my first major job interview and I had my career set in twenty minutes. He has opened doors for me to contribute to the National Chi Alpha Alumni Association and my local church. I never saw this coming.

I encourage you this summer to take some time and write down what God has given you as a vision. If it’s been a while since you sought His vision, search the Scriptures for examples of men and women who followed Him in faith, and pray accordingly. Believe God will sharpen your vision of the future He has prepared for you, and even if you cannot see it, precisely believe He is preparing you for it.

The vision of the National Chi Alpha Alumni Association is to Connect, Pray, and Give. We seek to build a community of alumni who have transitioned from Chi Alpha into either marketplace or ministry. We aspire to pray over our campus ministries, leaders, and students, as well as national initiatives. We love to give of our time and finances to support the vision of campus ministers across the country. God has graced us with powerful vision for this year, and I’m sure there will be much to tell in the coming months.

Won’t you join us in prayer for His vision to be accomplished, for His will to be done on earth, as it is in heaven? We believe God is bringing into focus the purpose and plan for the Alumni Association, and I believe you have a part to play. Let us look forward together, and trust God will make plain where we are headed.

Be blessed and encouraged!
